Hire a Lift

Low-level access lifts

Low-level access is the everyday name for small access platforms used for work a little above head height, where steps feel risky and a full-size machine will not fit. The low-level lifts we hire are push-around and mast lifts and small scissor lifts, from 3.5m to 6.75m (11ft 6in to 22ft 2in) working height, with every figure matching the machine pages on this site.

Which lifts this guide covers

This guide covers the straight-up lifts we hire with a working height of 7m or less. That cut-off is ours, to keep the list to the smallest machines, not an industry definition.

Platform height is how high the floor of the basket or deck goes. Working height adds roughly two metres for a person standing and reaching, so it is the figure to match to the job.

Push-around or self-propelled

A push-around lift is moved by hand on castors, then raised by a battery power pack or by winding. It stays put while the platform is up, so you lower it to move along. A self-propelled lift drives while raised, which saves time when the job runs along a wall or down an aisle.

7 of the 11 lifts below are static once raised. Push-around lifts that do not drive while raised are IPAF category 1a, and IPAF also runs a PAV course for push-around machines. Lifts that drive while raised are category 3a.

Getting through doors and onto upper floors

Mast lifts are compact one-person platforms, small enough for aisles, doorways and passenger lifts. The narrowest lift in this guide, the Pecolift 3.5m push-around mast lift, is 0.7m wide when stowed.

Check the stowed width and height on the machine page against your narrowest door and lowest opening on the route in, and check the floor can take the machine weight.

Questions

What is low-level access?
It is the everyday name for small access platforms used for work a little above head height, such as push-around and mast lifts. The low-level lifts we hire reach working heights of 3.5m to 6.75m (11ft 6in to 22ft 2in).
Do I need IPAF training for a push-around lift?
Operators should be trained for the type of machine they use. Push-around lifts that do not drive while raised are IPAF category 1a, and IPAF also runs a PAV course for push-around machines.
Will a mast lift fit through a doorway?
Mast lifts are compact one-person platforms, small enough for aisles, doorways and passenger lifts. The narrowest lift in this guide, the Pecolift 3.5m push-around mast lift, is 0.7m wide when stowed. Check the stowed width and height on the machine page against your narrowest door before you book.
What is the difference between working height and platform height?
Platform height is how high the floor of the basket or deck goes. Working height adds roughly two metres for a person standing and reaching, so it is the figure to match to the job.
