Straight booms, maximum outreach
Telescopic boom lift hire
A telescopic boom lift has a straight boom that extends in sections, giving the most height and outreach from one spot. It is the machine for when the base cannot get close to the work: across a car park, over a landscaped area or up the side of a tall building. Some are also called stick booms. Hire one for a few days or a few months, with the price shown before you add it to the basket.
Telescopic booms are boom lifts. They are usually just called boom lifts rather than cherry pickers, the everyday name for jointed, up-and-over booms.

Questions
- Is a telescopic boom lift a cherry picker?
- People sometimes search for it that way, but the trade usually just calls it a boom lift. Cherry picker is the everyday name for jointed, up-and-over booms; a telescopic boom is straight and built for outreach.
- How much does telescopic boom lift hire cost?
- Each machine page leads with the price for a week's hire, inc and ex VAT, and lists hires from 2 days in a table of prices by hire length. Delivery and collection are priced by your postcode before you pay. The optional damage waiver is included by default, and you can remove it by uploading your own hired-in plant insurance (HiPI) certificate.
- What IPAF category is a telescopic boom lift?
- Self-propelled articulated and telescopic boom lifts are IPAF category 3b (mobile boom). Spider lifts and van, truck and trailer mounts work from outriggers and are category 1b. Each machine page shows its category.
- How far can a telescopic boom reach?
- Each machine page shows the working height and outreach from the maker's data sheet. The largest machines reach well over 50m working height, and need a large delivery vehicle and firm ground.
