About this machine
The SJ16 is the safe swap for a stepladder or a tower. It is light enough for many mezzanines and lifts, and small enough to turn inside a corridor.
One person, their tools and a box of fittings go up together, and the whole thing is set up in seconds.
Good for
- Lamp changes and ceiling tiles
- Retail stock and displays
- Plant room and riser maintenance

Frequently asked questions
- What licence do I need to operate it?
- Operators should hold an IPAF PAL card for category 3A (mobile vertical platforms). We can point you to training if you need it.
- How high can I reach?
- The published working height is 6.75m (22ft 2in), platform height 4.75m (15ft 7in). Its model name gives its platform height in feet, rounded, so it is hired as a 16ft mast lift. Working height assumes a person of average height standing on the platform, so leave a margin for tools and fixings.
- Can I use it indoors?
- Yes. It runs on batteries, so it is quiet with zero exhaust emissions, which makes it welcome indoors and on low-emission sites.
- Will it go in a passenger lift?
- Often yes. Check your lift's internal size and load rating against the stowed size and weight on this page.
- Can two people use it?
- No. It is a one-person platform.
- Is delivery included?
- Yes. Delivery and collection are included in the hire price. Some areas, such as Greater London and Scotland, carry an area surcharge, and the postcode check on this page shows it before you book.
