Hire a Lift

Towable booms on outriggers

Trailer mounted cherry picker hire

A trailer mount is a boom lift built onto a road-towable trailer. It is towed to the job, set up on four outriggers that lift and level it, and then works like any jointed boom: up and over walls, porches and conservatories to reach gutters, roofs and trees. Hire one for a day or a few weeks: ask for a price with the enquiry form on each machine page.

A trailer mounted platform is a static boom: it works from its outriggers, not on its wheels, so IPAF classes it as category 1b, the same as spider lifts and van and truck mounts.

Jobs it suits

  • Gutters, fascias, soffits and roof repairs on houses
  • Tree work and hedges over walls and fences
  • Signs, lighting and CCTV in car parks and yards
  • Short jobs where a self-propelled boom would be too big to deliver

Check your site before it arrives

  • Firm, level ground for the outriggers, with pads on soft surfaces
  • Width and length of the route in, including any side gate
  • Room around the machine for the outriggers once they are down
  • Overhead cables, trees and structures in the working area
  • If you will tow it: your licence, and a vehicle rated to tow its weight

Questions

What is a trailer mounted cherry picker?
A boom lift on a towable trailer. It travels on its own axle behind a towing vehicle, then sets up on four outriggers that take it off its wheels and level it before the boom is raised. Many have a telescopic upper boom for extra outreach, and some have an optional traction drive to move it short distances on site.
How much does trailer mount hire cost?
Trailer mounts are priced on request for now: send the enquiry form on the machine page with your postcode and dates. Delivery and collection are priced by your postcode before you pay. The optional damage waiver is included by default, and you can remove it by uploading your own hired-in plant insurance (HiPI) certificate.
Can I tow a trailer mount on a car licence?
GOV.UK says that if you passed your car test from 1 January 1997 you can tow a trailer of up to 3,500kg maximum authorised mass (category BE), and that licences from before 1997 usually cover a vehicle and trailer of up to 8,250kg combined. Trailer mounts weigh from about 1.4 tonnes to about 3.5 tonnes, so check the machine weight and that your towing vehicle is rated to tow it. We confirm the weight of the machine with your quote.
What IPAF category covers a trailer mount?
Category 1b (static boom). Trailer mounts work from outriggers rather than driving while raised, so they sit with spider lifts and van and truck mounts. Each machine page shows its category.
Can a trailer mount work indoors?
Some can. Trailer mounts come with engine, battery, mains or bi-energy (battery and engine) power depending on the build, and battery or mains power suits indoor or quiet work. Check the access width and floor against the figures on the machine page, and say which power option you need in your quote request.
