How cherry picker and scissor lift hire costs work
The price you pay is the machine rate for the hire length, shown inc and ex VAT, plus the damage waiver on the machine page and delivery for your postcode unless that page says delivery is included. This page explains how those parts fit together. The figures themselves stay on the hire costs page, which reads them from the booking system.
What the hire price is made of
There are three parts. The machine rate covers the hire length and is shown inc and ex VAT. The machine page adds the damage waiver to that rate. Delivery and collection are then priced for your site postcode, or included when the machine page says so.
Optional damage waiver included. Hold your own HiPI? Upload your certificate to remove it.
The hire costs page compares the machine rate for every machine we take bookings for. It refreshes from the booking system every hour. Your exact total, with the waiver and delivery, is on the machine page once you enter dates and a postcode.

Day rates, week rates and longer hires
Prices start from a 2-day hire. That is the shortest hire we show.
A week's hire is the advertised band a 7-day hire falls in. It is never a shorter hire multiplied by seven. When one band covers both the shortest hire and a week, they are the same price. A machine with no band covering seven days has no week rate, and its page shows the shortest hire instead.
Longer hires cost less per day. Pick your dates on the machine page to see every hire length we price. The hire costs page puts the week rate and the shortest hire side by side, and it leaves a machine out when the booking system advertises no rate.
What changes the rate
The rate follows the machine and the hire length. Working height, power and type can all change it, and two machines of the same type can differ. Compare them on the live table rather than from the type name. The heights below are the machines we list. This table does not repeat the prices.
Of the machines we list, 76 can be booked online. 4 machines come with an operator and are quoted for the job, so they are not in that table. 27 machines are price on request. Their pages have an enquiry form instead of a price, and they are not in the live table.

Delivery and collection
For a machine you book online, enter your site postcode on its page before you pay. The page shows whether delivery and collection are included in the hire price or what they cost.
Some areas, such as Greater London and Scotland, carry an area surcharge, including on machines whose hire price already includes delivery. The same postcode check shows it.
With operated hire the operator drives the machine to site and away again. Travel, parking and any permits are confirmed in the quote. Where a machine is price on request, delivery and collection are priced with that quote.
Where to see the price
Use the hire costs page to compare machines, then open a machine page for the total with your dates and postcode. If the job needs an operator, or the machine is marked price on request, use the enquiry form on that page.

Where we take bookings for one, the hire costs page shows a week rate and the shortest hire, inc and ex VAT. Scissor lifts marked price on request are quoted from the enquiry form on the machine page. Delivery and collection are shown for your postcode on the machine page.
- Is a week's hire seven times the day rate?
- No. A week's hire is the advertised band a 7-day hire falls in. It is never a shorter hire multiplied by seven. When one band covers both the shortest hire and a week, they are the same price. A machine with no band covering seven days has no week rate, and its page shows the shortest hire instead.
- What is the shortest hire?
- Prices start from a 2-day hire. That is the shortest hire we show. Each machine page lists every hire length we price. Longer hires cost less per day.
- Is VAT included?

- What does the hire price include?
- The live prices on the hire costs page are the machine rate for the hire length shown, inc and ex VAT. The price on each machine page adds the damage waiver. Delivery and collection are priced by your postcode, and they are included only when that page says so. Optional damage waiver included. Hold your own HiPI? Upload your certificate to remove it.
- Is delivery included?
- It depends on the machine. Enter your site postcode on the machine page before you pay. The page shows whether delivery and collection are included or what they cost. Some areas, such as Greater London and Scotland, carry an area surcharge, and the same check shows it. Operated hire confirms travel in the quote.
- Is there a deposit?
- Some machines need a refundable deposit. The machine page says so before you book.
- Does the hire price include an operator or IPAF training?
- No. Self-drive hire is for the machine, and the operator is yours. Operated hire, with a trained operator, is quoted for the job and booked by enquiry. IPAF courses are coming soon: register your interest on the IPAF training page. Dates, venues and prices are not available yet.
